SCILET was established in 1985 by “seed money” given by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, New York, USA, and has been continuously supported by a variety of generous grants from this institution almost every year since that time.  These gifts include a strategic Matching Grant programme, several Book Grants for the SCILET library, and crucial help in developing the Centre’s Endowment Programme.
